Shann Larsson’s Nomadic Mixed Media Art

Shann Larsson was born in 1987 and raised in Germany, Sweden, Indonesia and Hong Kong. The childhood nomad currently lives and works in Hong Kong, creating mixed media art works with photo manipulation and paint to create art works that combine the real and imagined worlds. Larsson says her paintings are inspired by emotions and the darker recesses of the human subconscious. Like the subconscious mind, Shann Larsson’s art works follow no rules and the ideas portrayed in her paintings seem formed from pure emotion. Shann Larsson’s paintings are often both abstract and surrealist in nature; many of the symbols in the paintings are portrayed in convincingly real forms while abstract shapes pull the viewer into an unreal world hidden within the art work.

Larsson’s paintings often display a sense of two opposites warring for dominance. Beauty wrestles with decay while symbols of clarity seem on the verge of being enveloped by chaotic images. Reality (in the form of recognizable objects, animals and human faces) becomes distorted as it goes up against abstract shapes and forms. Take a look at Shann Larsson’s website or Facebook page for more info about the artist and pictures of her art.

What if Wild Animals Ate Fast Food?

This funny animated video shows the effect that fast food would have on wild animals in Africa. The animation is a parody of human lifestyle choices, showing what animals would behave like if they could make the same choices that humans do. Facebook Twitter Google+
