For some of these people, Hansen paints a portrait of their face, but for others, he paints a picture that symbolizes who they are or how they have influenced him. The time lapse video shows the artist painting over each picture in order to create a blank canvas for the next painting. Layer upon layer of paint covers his chest in a symbolic act that represents the layers of memory that a person collects over time. The artist had to stand in the same place for several hours to create this video, painting himself while looking in a mirror, behind the camera.
