The Graffiti of Life by C215

Christian Guémy is better known as C215. He displays his graffiti artist name, C215, in his street murals in the form of a child’s building block. The “C”, “2” and “5” are each shown on a side of the block, while the numeral “1” is actually one of the block’s edges. C215 is a French graffiti artist from Paris who tries to reflect the world around him through street art. His stencil and spray paint wall murals mirror the people who pass by on the city streets. His scenes often portray people in current fashions such as hoodies and sneakers, and reflect the romantic nature of Paris, France with images of young couples kissing and cuddling.

C215 paints portraits of everyday people, the kind of person you can imagine walking past on a Parisian pavement. One of Christian Guémy’s favorite subjects to paint is his daughter Nina, who is a big fan of her dad’s art works. His stencil graffiti art exists in cities like New Delhi, London, Istanbul, Fes, Rome, Barcelona, and Paris and his fine art paintings have been displayed in several art galleries. Each graffiti painting is original; a colorful portrayal of modern humanity that brightens up the street that it is displayed on. C215 often uses bright colors and flowing lines to create the completed artwork. Shadows are described in bright blues and purples, with highlights taking on the form of vivid yellows, greens and oranges. These highly saturated portraits are often large, looming over the viewer with an attention-grabbing facial expression. Christian Guémy’s graffiti art is bound to make any Parisian pedestrian stop and stare.
