On Friday 15 November, 2013, five year old cancer survivor Miles got to live his dream, thanks to the efforts of the Make a Wish foundation and thousands of San Franciscans. Miles got to be Batkid for the day and played sidekick to his hero, Batman, who drove Miles from one daring adventure to the next in his Batmobile. Somewhere between 10 000 and 15 000 people turned out to cheer Batkid on, many of them dressing in superhero costumes to show their support for a fellow crime fighter.<\/p>\n
Along with his own sidekick, his little brother who got to play Robin, Batkid rescued a damsel in distress who had been tied to railway tracks, foiled The Riddler in an attempted bank robbery and rescued the San Francisco Giant’s mascot from The Penguin. At the end of the day, Batkid was presented with a key to the city made out of chocolate while being cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.
