Omar Rayyan has created art for a number of different industries, from creating illustrations for children’s books to designing images for Magic: The Gathering cards. He also had an influential role in creating the fantasy world in the popular children’s movie The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Rayyan is inspired by the works of famous oil painters, yet chooses to work in watercolor. The result is a combination of the textures found in oil paintings and the vibrant, translucency of watercolor paints. For subject matter, Omar Rayyan has chosen fantasy characters, and though he has illustrated and painted many famous characters from well-known folk stories, children’s books and mythology, many of the whimsical and wonderful creatures that he creates are born from his own fertile imagination.

Rayyan currently lives with his wife Sheila, who is also an artist, on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, USA. If you’re interested in buying prints or originals of Omar Rayyan’s art, or simply want to see more work by this talented artist, visit his website or like his Facebook page.
