Vladimir Stankovic is a young artist, illustrator and graphic designer from Serbia. At the moment he lives in Finland and is pursuing a career in commercial art production. Stankovic’s drawings are created using whatever materials he feels will create the texture that he desires; color pencils, watercolor paints and ink markers are all utilized to create a sense of fullness in his designs. To add to the robust texture of his art, Stankovic uses patterns and repetitive designs to fill shapes and create depth. Areas that most likely would have been left flat by most artists are carefully textured by Vladimir Stankovic with patterns that delight the eye and give Stankovic’s art a unique edge.

Stankovic’s illustrations resemble the creations of the cubist and abstract art movements. Strong profiles of human faces, exaggerated facial expressions and stylized limbs cavort on the page in a mish mash of styles and materials. This combination of so many artistic styles and techniques is what drags your eye back to page, enticing you to investigate the illustrations just in case you missed something the first dozen times around.

Vladimir Stankovic’s illustrations include biological drawings, creature designs and emotive scenes of human society. Stankovic draws the world not as he sees it, but as he feels and imagines it, inking his own emotions and ideas into the page to give his designs an unusual appeal. The Art Out There had this to say about Vladimir Stankovic’s art; “The shapes butt up against one another and overlap in surprising ways that spell out a puzzle-like narrative of human, semi-human, and monstrous relationships. The menagerie of stylized mythical creatures that seem to lurk throughout much of his work also evoke hints of Heironymous Bosch. These works are small and dense, and worth a good deal more than a glance. Take your time with them.” There is so much more to Stankovic’s art works than meets the eye – they’re worth having a good drool over.
