Mario Sánchez Nevado was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1985. He has pursued a career in fine art and digital art, producing dozens of emotive paintings both on canvas and on a computer screen. Nevado’s art is very moody – each scene portrayed in his paintings expresses the artist’s mood as well as evoking an emotional reaction from the viewer. The dramatic nature of Nevado’s art has made his paintings a popular choice for CD covers – a use of his talent that Mario Nevado thoroughly enjoys, saying it “has been my passion since I can remember.” Nevado’s CD cover art works are a visual portrayal of the music found in the album, giving CD store customers a clue to the type of music found on the album.

The artist describes his work with the words, “My images try to convey an emotional impact on the viewers as they are related to everyday life issues, carrying domestic experiences to surreal, mostly dark worlds, sometimes with a grotesque approach and trying to portray ironic messages in between the lines.” Many of Mario Nevado’s paintings have characteristics of science fiction and fantasy art. The influence of science fiction art on Nevado’s paintings can be seen in his use of alienish landscapes and otherworldly skies. In fantasy art, characters are often portrayed as having magical powers or having fantastic additions to their bodies such as antlers or wings, characteristics that can be found in many of Nevado’s paintings.

Symbols that can be found in Nevado’s art works include butterflies (change and rebirth), pills (health) and fire (passion). Many surrealist paintings don’t have a deeper meaning, but each of Mario Nevado’s paintings implore the viewer to look beneath the surface of the painting and find symbolic meaning within the art work. Nevado displays his paintings online through Deviantart and on his portfolio website.
