The Insect Lab Studio combines biology and science fiction to create intriguing clockwork insect sculptures. Using machinery such as cogs and wheels found in watches and clocks, the Insect Lab turns insect cadavers into works of art. The clockwork creatures look as though they belong in a steampunk world, where even nature is unaffected by human technology. Each piece of art reminds us of the value of natural engineering; even NASA scientists have seen the value of nature’s engineers and are creating walking rovers and “swarm theory” probes based on the structure and behavior of insects.
